Weather Challenges

This is the third post in the Challenges and Roadblocks series.

Weather has been a challenge with event turnout. I have noticed that in the spring and summer months, if the weather is nice, less people will show up or book for an indoor painting event. If the weather is overcast or rainy, I will have a better turnout. This is understandable, everyone wants to be outside when it is nice out.

The fall and winter months are the best months for turnout for me both for public painting events and private events at clients homes. I think this is for multiple reasons.

1) As it cools down and gets kind of grey outside, people are looking for activities to do inside.

2) Extended family comes home to visit for the holidays and people are more likely to look for events the whole family can go to.

I will say that the unpredictable weather of late fall and all of winter in Northern Maine, can still get in the way of my events and event turnout, even with it being my best season. I have had to cancel events because road conditions are not safe and I do not want people to get hurt. I have also had to end events early because of sudden snow squalls or extend so everyone can ride out the squall.

There is not much you can do to avoid weather challenges, especially if you are scheduling events 3 months in advance. What I can and have done is keep an eye on the 10 day forecast so, you can update those who have already booked or who will book with any date or time changes as soon as possible.

Please comment below your favorite snow day story and how you have dealt weather challenges.
