Post two in the Challenges and Roadblocks series.
One of the biggest challenges/roadblocks I have face in the last almost 2 years are having other events happening on the same day as my events. To be fair when I started out I was only looking at my availability and not at what else what happening in the area. I tend to schedule 3 months at a time and in that timeframe more events in the area may be scheduled after I have my events scheduled. This is hard to avoid.
What I have been trying to do now is looking at different community event calendars, Facebook events and my availability to try and avoid having multiple events, especially large events on the same day as my events. I will be honest, I have not been great that this. I am now setting aside specific time to review the community events before I schedule and advertise my events.
I have also learned that the best week in the month to schedule events is the 3rd week. I believe this is because many people have to pay bills on the first of each month. Many people also get paid every 2 weeks and use the last check of the month to pay their bills.
In the last few years cost of living has gone up significantly. Especially if you have kids.
I aim to have affordable prices, especially for my paint nights, because everyone deserves a minute to relax. (I do have a pay what you can Winter & Whimsy paint night 12/12/25) The retreats, I try to make as affordable as I can while paying for the space, supplies, etc.
Over all I have learned about different places I can find scheduled local events, so I can try my best to avoid having a conflict with other local events.
Comment below any scheduling events you have had in the last year, and any tips and trick you have learned for minimizing them.
