Looking back on the past year, it’s clear that growth often comes wrapped in unexpected changes and new experiences. This year brought a mix of firsts, transitions, and exciting plans that have shaped both personal life and artistic journey. From debuting at art shows to embracing new work rhythms, the past twelve months have been a powerful reminder of how much can change when you stay open to opportunity and connection.

Embracing New Artistic Opportunities
One of the highlights of the year was having the very first art show. This milestone marked a turning point, turning creative ideas into something tangible and shared with others. Alongside that, participating in several smaller shows and craft fairs helped build confidence and expand reach. These events were not just about selling art but about meeting people who appreciate creativity and storytelling through visual work.
Painting events, both private and public, added variety and fresh inspiration and connection. Each event brought new faces and conversations, leading to meaningful friendships and connections. These relationships have become a vital part of the creative process, offering support and motivation.
Navigating Life Changes with Positivity
The year also brought significant personal changes. Nearly a year ago, our family welcomed Timber, a new addition that brought joy and a fresh dynamic to daily life. Alongside this, both my partner and I experienced job transitions. These changes could have been stressful, but instead, they turned out well.
My partner found a job that brought more happiness and satisfaction, which positively influenced overall well-being. I have for the most part adjusted to working from home, which came with its own challenges but also benefits. The reduced stress and clear boundaries between work and personal time have made a noticeable difference. This balance has allowed more energy to focus on creative projects and personal growth.
Creating Memorable Retreat Experiences
Another exciting achievement was organizing the first retreat, the Island Falls Retreat at Whale Camp. This event combined art, nature, and community in a way that felt deeply rewarding. It provided a space for artists and participants to connect, learn, and recharge creatively. It was absolutely amazing to connect with the Island Falls Historical society, Ashley Bodin, and the owners of The North Gate Grill.
Looking ahead, there is great anticipation for the upcoming murder mystery retreat Secrets Beneath the Pines, scheduled for October 2026! This event promises to blend creativity with fun and intrigue, offering a unique experience for attendees. I will be again teaming up with the Island Falls Historical society, Ashley Bodin, the owners of North Gate Grill. I will be adding connections with The Island Falls Opera House for a murder mystery luncheon, Kelly Dooner for Massage, featured artists and a few other people in the works! Planning these retreats requires dedication and vision, but the payoff in community building and artistic exploration is well worth the effort.

Preparing for a Busy Art Season
The new year is already shaping up to be full of activity with two back-to-back art shows planned between February and April. These events will be opportunities to showcase new work, engage with art lovers, and continue building momentum. Preparing for these shows involves not only creating art but also organizing logistics, marketing, and connecting with the audience.
This busy season is a chance to apply lessons learned from the past year and push creative boundaries further. It’s also a reminder that growth is ongoing and that each event is a step toward new possibilities.
Finding Balance and Looking Forward
Reflecting on the year reveals a balance between change and stability, challenge and reward. The journey included stepping into new roles, both professionally and personally, while nurturing a creative spirit. The support of friends, family, and fellow artists has been invaluable.
As the year unfolds, the focus remains on embracing opportunities, learning from experiences, and staying grateful for the progress made. The excitement for upcoming retreats and shows fuels motivation to keep creating and connecting.
This reflection serves as a reminder that growth happens in many forms and that gratitude can transform how we see our journey. Whether it’s a first show, a new job, or a special retreat, each moment adds to the story of art and life intertwined.
