How I Plan to Improve My Marketing in 2026

Marketing has always been a challenge for me. Over the past year, I’ve made progress, but I know there’s still a lot to improve. This year, I want to focus on practical steps that will help me reach more people and build stronger connections with my audience. Here’s my plan for improving my marketing in 2026.

Making Social Media Posts That Catch Attention

Social media is where many people spend their time, so I need to get better at creating posts that stand out. I want to focus on making eye-catching posts and short skits for platforms like TikTok and Facebook. These platforms reward creativity and authenticity, so I plan to:

  • Use bright colors and clear images to grab attention quickly.

  • Keep videos short and fun, with a clear message or call to action.

  • Experiment with trends and popular sounds on TikTok to increase visibility.

  • Post regularly to keep my audience engaged without overwhelming them.

For example, I might create a quick behind-the-scenes video showing how I prepare for an event or share a funny moment related to my business. These kinds of posts feel personal and invite people to connect with me.

Partnering with Local News and Influencers

I’ve realized that working alone limits my reach. Local news outlets and influencers already have followers who trust them. By partnering with them, I can tap into their audiences and build credibility faster. My plan includes:

  • Reaching out to local news stations and newspapers to share stories about my events or business milestones.

  • Finding influencers in my area who share similar interests or values and proposing collaborations.

  • Offering exclusive previews or discounts to their followers to encourage engagement.

For instance, if I host a community event, I could invite a local influencer to attend and share their experience. This kind of partnership benefits both of us and helps spread the word more effectively.

Submitting Events to Local Organizations and Media

Getting the word out about events is crucial. I plan to submit my events to several local organizations and media outlets, including:

  • The Chamber of Commerce

  • Maine Tourism

  • Local radio stations like Town Square Media

These organizations have established channels to promote community happenings. By sharing my events with them, I can reach people who are already looking for things to do in the area. I will make sure to provide clear, concise information about each event, including dates, locations, and highlights.

For example, last year I submitted an event to the Chamber of Commerce and The Aroostook Common and saw a noticeable increase in attendance. I want to build on that success by expanding my reach to more outlets.

Getting Back to Flyers and Physical Promotion

While digital marketing is important, I can’t ignore traditional methods. Flyers still work well, especially in local communities where people appreciate tangible reminders. I plan to:

  • Design simple, attractive flyers that clearly explain what I offer.

  • Distribute them in high-traffic areas like coffee shops, libraries, and community centers.

  • Use flyers to promote upcoming events and special offers.

Last year, I stopped using flyers regularly, but I noticed a drop in local awareness. Bringing flyers back will complement my online efforts and reach people who might not be active on social media.

Putting It All Together

Improving marketing is about combining different strategies and staying consistent. My plan for 2026 focuses on:

  • Creating engaging social media content that feels authentic.

  • Building partnerships with trusted local voices.

  • Using community channels to promote events.

  • Balancing digital and physical marketing tools.

By working on these areas, I expect to see better engagement and more people discovering what I offer. Marketing is a skill that takes time to develop, but with clear goals and steady effort, I’m confident I’ll get better.

If you’re also looking to improve your marketing, try mixing online creativity with local connections. It’s a practical way to grow your audience and build lasting relationships.
