I was thrilled by how warmly everyone received our first pay what you can event, Winter & Whimsy. Seeing so many people come together to share creativity and joy was inspiring. Because of that success, I’m excited to announce that the upcoming Snowy Day Watercolor Workshop will also be a pay what you can event, with a $3 minimum. This approach makes art nights more accessible and welcoming to everyone, regardless of budget.

What to Expect at the Snowy Day Watercolor Workshop
This workshop will focus on capturing the quiet beauty of a snowy day using watercolor techniques. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this event will guide you through creating your own winter-inspired artwork in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Here’s what you need to know:
Pay what you can with a minimum of $3 to join
All art supplies will be provided
Food and drinks are not included but will be available for purchase from Rodney’s on-site
A chance to connect with fellow artists and art lovers
The pay what you can model allows more people to participate without financial pressure. It’s about building community and sharing the joy of art.
Why Pay What You Can Works for Art Nights
Art nights should be about creativity and connection, not cost barriers. When I first tried this model, I was amazed at how it encouraged a diverse group of people to join. Some paid a little more to support others, while some paid the minimum, and everyone felt included.
This model:
Encourages more people to try something new
Builds a stronger, more diverse community
Spreads connection and love
By making art nights accessible, we create a space where everyone feels welcome to express themselves and learn.
